The latest international treatments and technologies at the Egyptian Foundation for Digestive System Developers conference

The Egyptian Foundation for Developers of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, Digest 2025, concluded its sixth scientific conference, with wide participation from professors and experts in gastroenterology and endoscopy from various universities and specialized centers, to discuss the latest scientific developments in diagnosis and treatment, and to develop local treatment lines based on clinical experience, in addition to reviewing the latest technological tools in endoscopy, most notably artificial intelligence techniques, which have become an essential part of the diagnostic system.

The conference sessions witnessed an extensive discussion of realistic cases facing doctors inside clinics on a daily basis, with the aim of establishing practical methods in medical decision-making.

In his speech, Dr. Mohamed Khorshid, consultant gastrointestinal and endoscopes and head of the Egyptian Foundation for Developers of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopy, confirmed that the conference this year focused on developing local treatment lines based on accumulated experiences and expertise, explaining that the conference’s philosophy is based on interactive discussions more than theoretical lectures, through a presentation Real cases facing doctors on a daily basis, and listening to the experiences of professors on how to manage these cases according to accurate scientific foundations.

Khurshid pointed out that the conference was keen to integrate all specialties related to the digestive system to ensure the provision of an integrated medical service to the patient, stressing that many of the cases diagnosed as “irritable bowel syndrome” They may hide other diseases that are only discovered through advanced examinations, especially immunological examinations. 

He explained that some colon tumors, or small colon infections, appear with symptoms very similar to irritable bowel syndrome at their beginning, which makes accurate diagnosis an absolute necessity.

He pointed to the widespread spread of esophageal reflux disease and Helicobacter pylori in Egypt, stressing that the conference addressed the importance of integrating therapeutic nutrition instead of adopting a complete food prevention pattern, from While directing patients to foods that reduce inflammation and improve digestion.

He added that diseases of the digestive system may be linked to other systems such as immune and rheumatic diseases, or heart diseases associated with esophageal reflux, which requires a comprehensive diagnostic vision.

Khorshid stressed that artificial intelligence has become a pivotal element in endoscopic diagnosis, explaining that it makes it easier for the doctor to monitor minute changes within the digestive tract, especially in light of the spread of fatty dietary patterns in society. The Egyptian.
