Effective response to crises in the Middle East region; First and foremost in the occupied Palestinian territories, appreciating the efforts of the United Nations Office in support of the protection of Palestinian civilians and its efforts to access humanitarian aid. Recently, including with regard to the entry of humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities, stressing the importance of the UN Office’s support for the efforts made to intensify the flow of humanitarian, relief and medical aid during the next phase, given the catastrophic humanitarian conditions within the sector.
For his part, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs praised the tireless efforts made by Egypt and its tangible contributions to achieving stability in the region, appreciating the role it played. It was brought to Egypt in order to facilitate negotiations and reach an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, as well as the entry of humanitarian, relief and medical aid into the Gaza Strip in the required quantities, stressing the office’s intention to actively participate in the international conference for early recovery and reconstruction.
