The Minister of Health is following up on the development work of the outpatient clinics building at the Republic Teaching Hospital

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, inspected the development work of the outpatient clinics building at Al-Gomhouria Teaching Hospital, affiliated with the Hospitals and Educational Institutes Authority, as part of efforts to modernize the infrastructure and raise the quality of medical services.

 

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry’s official spokesman, explained that the development included increasing the clinical capacity from 91 to 160 beds, and expanding the main building to include the pediatric oncology unit, treatment of hepatitis viruses, 3 Operating rooms, intensive care, open-heart care, and surgical incubators, in addition to a new dialysis building containing 13 machines.

 

The Minister inspected the outpatient clinics building (20 clinics), and increased dental clinic chairs from 1 to 3 with the addition of a chair for maxillofacial surgery, and spoke with patients in the waiting areas to check on the level of service.

 

The Minister was briefed on the hospital’s achievements during 2025, which included:

 

 317,817 outpatient clinic cases

 

159,414 x-ray cases

 

 11,354 surgical procedures

 

 17,399 A case of radiotherapy

 

 147 operations within the initiative to end waiting lists

 

 3,893 various gastrointestinal endoscopy

 

The Minister was accompanied by Dr. Peter Waguih, Assistant Minister for Curative Medicine, Dr. Sherif Mostafa, Assistant Minister for National Projects, and Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Abdul Ghaffar, Chairman of the Hospitals and Educational Institutes Authority, and a number of ministry leaders.
