The Minister of Health witnesses the first meeting of the Supreme Committee for Medical Liability and Patient Safety

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, witnessed the first meeting of the Supreme Committee for Medical Liability and Patient Safety, formed by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly’s Resolution No. 3971 of 2025, headed by Dr. Hussein Khaled, former Minister of Higher Education.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the Deputy Prime Minister stressed at the beginning of the meeting the pioneering role. This committee will help bring about radical positive change and enhance the application of justice in its areas of competence, praising the efficiency of the distinguished cadres it includes from various concerned parties.
He pointed out that the meeting witnessed the swearing of oaths by members of the committee, the selection of Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar as its official spokesman, in addition to the adoption of the headquarters of the Supreme Committee for Medical Liability and Patient Safety, its official logo, and its correspondence model, in addition to discussing and approving its effective work mechanisms, adding that the meeting discussed the nominated members of the subcommittees emanating from the Supreme Committee, In preparation for its rapid formation.
Abdul Ghaffar confirmed: The meeting stressed that the committees formed to consider complaints and cases submitted include highly experienced cadres in various medical specialties, with the appointment of a rapporteur for each subcommittee who will prepare accurate reports to be presented to the Supreme Committee for final decision-making, as well as reviewing the committee’s informed consent models, and emphasizing expert training programs to ensure the highest quality standards.
It is worth noting that the Supreme Committee for Medical Liability and Patient Safety includes in its formation:
– Dr. Omar Sharif Omar – Secretary The Supreme Council of University Hospitals as Vice Chairman of the Committee
– Head of the Fatwa Department of the Ministry of Health at the State Council
– Counselor Reda Abdel Mohsen Abdel Hamid, Head of Appeal at the Cairo Court of Appeal
– Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Abdel Ghaffar, Chairman of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes
– Dr. Mohamed Latif, CEO of the Egyptian Health Council
– Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control
– Dr. Ayman Hassan, Chief Forensic Physician
– Dr. Hani Ibrahim Raji, Consultant Cardiologist at the National Heart Institute, representing the Ministry of Health and Population
– Dr. Ahmed Muhammad al-Hadi Muhammad Anani, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Health Affairs, representing the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
– Director of the Medical Services Department of the Armed Forces, representing the Ministry of Defense and Production Al-Harbi
– Major General Doctor Hossam Talaat Nassif Abdel Muttalib, Medical Services Sector, representing the Ministry of Interior
– Dr. Hossam Salah Ahmed Murad, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Kasr Al-Aini, Cairo University

– A representative of the Medical Professions Syndicate concerned with the subject presented to the Supreme Committee, nominated by the Syndicate Council
It is mentioned that Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel-Wahab was appointed Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee, by decision of the Prime Minister, while the Committee has the right to seek the assistance of whomever it deems experienced and specialized in the topics it is considering, without having a counted vote in Deliberations.
