The Minister of Irrigation reviews the ambitious Egypt water strategy

Dr. Swailem added & quot; The axis of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation strategy is to face water challenges in converting difficulties into promising investment opportunities, through an integrated vision based on several basic axes . First, the Ministry seeks to develop the irrigation system by focusing on desalination for agriculture, smart management and digital transformation to raise the efficiency of the use of limited resources."Ltr"> & nbsp;

This strategy includes the consolidation of relations with the Nile Basin countries to preserve the historical right of Egypt in the waters of the river."RTL"> & nbsp;

Major national projects are also implemented such as: Record projects, rainwater harvest projects and desalination plants aimed at producing 2.8 million cubic meters per day."RTL"> & nbsp;

The Ministry is working to achieve water security through the second generation axes of the irrigation system 2.0 . These axes include

Treatment and Desalination : & nbsp; Agricultural wastewater is expanded through major projects such as the new delta and the sea of ​​the beef, in addition to going towards desalination as a major solution to counter the challenges of water and food security ."RTL"> & nbsp;

Smart Management : Relying on modern technology to predict rain, inventory of crops using satellite images, and follow the ground wells via drones."RTL"> & nbsp;

digital transformation : Drivation of canals, drains, water installations, and the creation of databases and digital applications for farmers’ service, where 27 diversified applications were designed."RTL"> & nbsp;

Rehabilitation of water structure : & nbsp;

Facing climate changes : Implementation of beaches projects, and protection work from torrents to create more than 1,600 facilities, with expansion of solar energy reliance."RTL"> & nbsp;

Governance and development of legislation : Promote farmers ’participation and water users’ links in the management of the water system, and the development of legislation to protect resources from encroachments."RTL"> & nbsp;

Nile River Set"Ltr"> : Crares to remove encroachments using the latest surveying technologies and setting activities on both sides of the river ."RTL"> & nbsp;

Awareness and capacity building : Human resources development through training and capacity building, and launching societal awareness campaigns such as a campaign & quot & quot; To consolidate the culture of rationalizing water consumption ."RTL"> & nbsp;

International efforts : Leadership efforts to raise the water position on the international climate and development agenda through Cairo Water Weeks, Climate Conferences, Egypt’s Presidency of the African Water Ministers Council (Amsu), and the launch of the initiative Aware to support African countries ."RTL"> & nbsp;

Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Irrigation Committee, which added a legislative and executive depth of discussion, which emphasized that the water issue represents a matter of life and existence of peoples, which makes discussing mechanisms for facing challenges is very important. He referred to the efforts of the Egyptian political leadership to adopt new water policies, such as the reuse of agricultural wastewater through major national projects. He added that Egypt is re -using about 21 billion cubic meters of water agricultural drainage, and aims to increase it to 26 billion cubic meters."RTL"> & nbsp;

In conclusion, the event stressed the pivotal role of the private sector in supporting the state strategies, and stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors to achieve water security in Egypt."RTL"> & nbsp;
