The Minister of Labor approves more than two million pounds to support irregular workers

The Minister of Labor, Mohamed Gibran, today, Tuesday, approved the disbursement of an amount of 2 million and 103 thousand and 535 pounds, allocated for health and social care and accident benefits for 553 irregular workers in 26 governorates, from the central account for the protection and care of irregular workers in the Ministry of Labor, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to support the most needy groups and strengthen social protection networks.

The minister explained that the amounts disbursed include: 796 thousand pounds directed for purposes Social care (grants for marriage, births, death of first-degree relatives, and surgical operations), from which 323 workers benefited, 212,535 pounds for health care (medical examination, rumours, tests, and treatment) for 223 workers, and 1 million and 95 thousand pounds from the accident response item, distributed over two incidents, where 840 thousand pounds were allocated to 4 deaths and two injured in a chimney accident in one of the clay brick factories in the governorate. Giza, at the rate of 200 thousand pounds for the family of each deceased, and 20 thousand pounds for each injured person, in addition to 255 thousand pounds for the case of death in an accident on the regional road in Menoufia Governorate.

The Minister of Labor said, in a statement, that the Ministry continues to provide various aspects of support and care for irregular workers in all governorates, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on the necessity of expanding the umbrella of social protection for the most needy groups, pointing out that care for workers is not Regular protection represents a priority in the ministry’s work, in implementation of President Sisi’s directives, and we are constantly working to expand the umbrella of protection to include everyone who deserves it, to ensure a decent and safe life for every worker who participates in building this nation.
