
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, held a meeting today; To review proposals for developing the area surrounding the castle and the “Zabbaleen” area. In Manshiyet Nasser neighborhood, Cairo Governorate, in the presence of Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, Acting Minister of Environment, and Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo.
The Prime Minister confirmed that the government continues to work on developing unplanned areas in various regions of the Republic, especially in Cairo Governorate, in continuation of the state’s approach and efforts that have resulted in the completion of the development of various unsafe areas, which were spread throughout the Republic, in a way that improves the daily living conditions of citizens therein, and provides decent means of life for the families living within them.
The Minister of Local Development stressed the keenness to follow up on the details of the measures taken by the various governorates to develop their non-urban areas, especially Cairo Governorate. With the aim of restoring the cultural and aesthetic appearance of a number of vital and service areas and streets in the capital, and eliminating any negative or random phenomena.
During the meeting, the Governor of Cairo gave a presentation about the area surrounding the citadel and the “Zabbaleen” area. In the Manshiet Nasser neighborhood, which is bordered to the north by the highway, and to the south by the Mokattam residential area, it also overlooks to the east of The ring road and the Mokattam axis, and to the west, the internal residential blocks of the Manshiyet Nasser neighborhood.
Dr. Ibrahim Saber said: The number of residents in the Manshiyet Nasser neighborhood working in the profession of sorting and collecting garbage is approximately 100 thousand people, in addition to 15 thousand workers,
pointing out Cairo Governorate produces 24,000 tons, of which 8,000 tons are collected and recycled in the Zabbaleen area in the Manshiet Nasser neighborhood.
During the meeting, the governor presented some proposals to develop this area, and the Prime Minister directed the submission of a comprehensive study on these proposals from all engineering and technical aspects, in preparation for consideration during a future meeting devoted to this matter.
