The Supreme Council of Universities organizes a workshop "Digital transformation and artificial intelligence in higher education"

The Supreme Council of Universities, under the patronage of Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Mona Hagras, Assistant Secretary, organized a workshop on digital transformation and artificial intelligence in higher education at the Council’s secretariat headquarters within the framework of a project in cooperation with the Fulbright Commission entitled Strengthening the capabilities of the Supreme Council of Universities to keep pace with future trends.
The workshop was moderated by Dr. Omar Salem, Director of the Electronic and Cognitive Services Center, in the presence of members of the Computer Sector Committee, the executive directors of information at Egyptian universities, representatives of the seven regions, Professor Dr. Karim Emara, Deputy Director of the Electronic and Cognitive Services Center, in addition to a number of directors of the center’s units.
Professor Dr. Alison Garrett from the Fulbright Commission gave a presentation in which she addressed the role of digital transformation in raising academic and administrative efficiency within universities, stressing that the success of this transformation depends on adopting a culture of change along with developing the technological infrastructure, while discussing the most prominent challenges related to finance and cybersecurity.
The workshop also reviewed mechanisms for building an effective digital culture within university institutions, through continuous training, providing incentives, and using data to support decision-making, in addition to reviewing indicators for measuring digital impact such as improving operational efficiency, reducing errors, and enhancing user experience.
The workshop also touched on the opportunities and challenges provided by artificial intelligence in higher education, and its role in analyzing data and improving learning outcomes.
The workshop concluded by emphasizing that digital transformation and artificial intelligence applications represent key tools for achieving more flexible and comprehensive education, with the need to align international practices with Egyptian reality, and provide supportive policies to ensure the sustainability of these efforts.
