Türkiye is preparing to share hypersonic missile technology with Pakistan

Arab Defense Website – October 16, 2025: Pakistani accounts on social media claimed that Turkey has expressed its willingness to share hypersonic missile technology with Pakistan, in a step that, if true, will open the door to advanced strategic cooperation between the two countries in the field of advanced defense industries, especially within the ballistic and hypersonic missile sector, which Ankara is working to develop at an accelerated pace in recent years.

The Turkish missile, which was commercially known as “Tayfun” and was developed by Roketsan Company under the supervision of the Presidency of Defense Industries, emerged as a weapon within a family of short- to medium-range ballistic missiles and in its latest version – called Block-4 – moved to standards usually classified as “hypersonic” as a result of its speed five times the speed of sound (5 Mach).

The modern version, Block-4, was shown for the first time at the IDEF 2025 exhibition. and announced Official and media sources indicate that its design has increased in length and weight compared to previous versions: the length is close to six and a half meters for the initially reported versions, and the weight referred to in several reports reaches about 2.3 tons for the version detailed in some sources, while other reports state that expanded versions may reach seven tons and lengths of approximately ten meters in larger versions. This discrepancy reflects the presence of different versions within the Typhoon family and shifts in specifications between Block-1 and Block-4.

In terms of range and speed, reports indicate that the Block-4 is capable of reaching a range of approximately 1,000 km, with hypersonic speeds (above Mach 5) during its atmospheric flight phase or the final phase of the trajectory.

The Typhoon Block-4 missile’s propulsion system relies on solid fuel, and Roketsan said it has undergone significant improvements in accuracy and the ability to hit sea and land targets at long distances. According to field tests, the missile’s hit accuracy is approximately five meters (CEP) under the declared test conditions, and the guidance system benefits from a combination of the Inertial Navigation System (INS) with support by satellite positioning systems (GPS/GLONASS).

Although a number of countries possess hypersonic missiles, Turkish sources confirm that none of them match the capabilities of the “Typhoon Block-4,” which they say is technologically superior to the point that modern defense systems are unable to detect or intercept it. The missile evades radars and bypasses missile defense shields, hitting its targets accurately before being discovered, like a ghost that disappears from sight until the moment it is hit. With these characteristics, it turns into a deadly threat to command and control centers, air defense platforms and vital bases, with a margin of error not exceeding five metres, which is equivalent to placing a needle in the middle of a football field.

In previous tests, “Typhoon” versions demonstrated capabilities with a range of between 500 and 1,000 kilometers, while the exact numbers of the latest “Block-4” version remain a military secret. However, estimates by independent experts indicate that its real range may range between 1,000 and 2,000 kilometers, which gives Türkiye the ability to reach most of the strategic points within its regional surroundings and redraw the scales of deterrence in the region.

The missile’s tasks are not limited to hitting fixed land targets, as it has a distinct ability to target moving naval vessels, including destroyers and aircraft carriers, which increases the effectiveness of Ankara’s maritime deterrence. Thus, “Typhoon Block-4” becomes one of the main pillars of the Turkish “Blue Homeland” doctrine, which aims to protect coasts, straits, and vital shipping lines.

With its massive dimensions of up to ten meters in length and more than seven tons in weight, the “Typhoon Block-4” is the largest and most powerful member of its family. With its speed exceeding five times the speed of sound, it becomes practically beyond the ability of conventional defense systems to intercept it, especially with its ability in the final stage of the flight to perform complex evasion maneuvers that reduce the chances of being hit to an almost impossible extent.

The missile also has the advantage of being a completely mobile launch system, as it can be transported and launched from ground vehicles within a few minutes, which gives it great flexibility in deployment and surprise, and allows the implementation of “hit and run” operations with high effectiveness, forming a mobile strategic deterrent tool that combines intelligence, flexibility, and destructive capacity.

The “Typhoon Block-4” has undergone a series of successful experiments, the last of which was in early 2025, when it exceeded expectations in terms of range and accuracy, moving to the stage of actual delivery to the Turkish Armed Forces, confirming that it is not just a technological achievement but a practical weapon ready for use. Its powerful, multi-tasking warhead, combined with its speed and high mass, makes it capable of destroying deep fortifications and underground targets, becoming a real nightmare for the strongest defenses.

At the international level, these developments sparked widespread reactions. The Greek media warned that “the entire Greek territory is within Typhoon’s range,” while the Israeli press focused on the difficulty of intercepting it and its immunity to electronic interference, while European reports warned that it might upset the balance of regional security. As for the Indian media, it linked its appearance to the growing defense cooperation between Ankara and Islamabad, expressing growing concern about its repercussions.

With this weapon, Türkiye places itself among the major powers possessing hypersonic missile technology, alongside the United States, Russia, and China. Some observers even believe that it is taking an additional step by developing a system that excels in terms of effectiveness and operational flexibility. It is not just a deterrent weapon, but rather a clear political message confirming that Ankara is now capable of imposing new equations in the field and in negotiating together, so that “Typhoon Block-4” becomes a dual symbol of power and diplomacy.

It is the culmination of a long process of striving towards defense independence, declaring that Türkiye is no longer a hostage of the outside in securing its strategic needs. However, this development is viewed not as a conclusion, but rather as the beginning of a new phase of military and sovereign ambition, which places Ankara on the threshold of the club of powers capable of imposing its will in the air, at sea, and at the international political decision-making table.
