Inside Socceroos star Jackson Irvine’s VERY different wedding after the ceremony had to be postponed because he was drunk for two days

Australian international football star Jackson Irvine has finally tied the knot with his longtime partner Jemilla Pir after having to postpone the ceremony because he was drunk for two days.

The former Burton Albion and Hull City midfielder, 31, captained German side St Pauli back into the nation’s top flight following their 3-1 win over VFL Osnabruck on Sunday.

He was due to marry fiancée Jemilla in Denmark on Tuesday, however the worse for wear footballer forgot to take his passport to the wedding, resulting in Danish officials refusing to hold the ceremony.

Jemilla, a tattooist, took to Instagram to share what happened, with the couple forced to postpone the do until he got himself together.

‘When you’ve been drunk for 2 days and forget to take your passport to your marriage appointment,’ she posted alongside three clown emojis.

‘Let’s try again tomorrow,’ she added. ‘(Party tonight is still on).’

Fortunately, things all went to plan the second time around with Pir posting several photos to Instagram of the pair showing their passports on the way to the venue.

The occasion was non-traditional, with Pir sharing photos of the happy couple dressed relatively casually with sunglasses on while they cut the cake.

Another photo showed the newlyweds standing on the street afterwards, holding lit flares as people applauded around them. 

Irvine has had a successful career in European football, having signed for Celtic from Melbourne Victory in 2010.

He made one appearance for the Scottish giants before representing Kilmarnock and Ross County. In 2016, Burton paid a club record fee of £330,000 to bring him to the midlands.

Irvine played for Hull for three seasons before returning north of the border with Hibs in 2021, and has represented Australia 66 times, contributing 11 goals for the Socceroos.

As well as captaining his club in Germany, Irvine has also worn the armband for the Socceroos.
