10 dead in floods in southern Brazil

Brasilia, May 2, WAM: At least ten people were killed and 20 others were missing after strong floods hit the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil.

State Governor Eduardo Leite appealed to the federal government to provide assistance, calling on residents in the most affected areas to seek refuge in safe places.

The Brazilian Ministry of Defense reported that the army was carrying out rescue missions using 5 helicopters.
