Conclusion of the International Conference on Arab Publishing and Creative Industries

Abu Dhabi, April 28 / WAM / The International Conference on Arab Publishing and Creative Industries concluded its work with a dialogue session entitled “New trends in reading patterns: towards enhancing the love of reading in the next generation.”

The session was attended by Luis Gonzalez, General Director of the Casa Lector Foundation in Spain, Isobel Abulhoul, co-founder of Magrudy Bookstores, founder, advisor and member of the Board of Trustees of the Emirates Literature Foundation, and Muhammad Al-Baghdadi, President and CEO of Al Manhal Arabic Content Company.

Moderated by Georgia Tully, presenter and interviewer on Dubai Eye Radio (103.8 FM), speakers discussed creative and interactive strategies to instill a love of reading in future generations.

The discussions focused on interactive content in the Arabic language with the participation of a group of experts and thinkers, who reviewed the transformative methods that would enhance children’s passion for literature and consolidate the role of the Arabic story in building a distinctive cultural identity.

The conference held a session entitled “Beyond Data: The Impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence on Humanity,” presented by Alia Yaqoub, a researcher in the fields of artificial intelligence and philosophy and head of the “Tech Qualia” platform at Synaps Analytics.

Participating in the session were Nadeem Sadiq, founder and CEO of Shimmer Eye, Preslav Nakov, professor at the Mohammed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, and Hoda Al-Khuzaimi, director of cybersecurity at New York University Abu Dhabi, who touched on several topics that dealt with the impact of artificial intelligence on the publishing industry, and the challenges that it faces. He also hosted a session entitled “Secrets of the Film Industry: The Dynamic Relationship between Literature and Cinematic Adaptation,” in which actor Ahmed Helmy, film director Marwan Hamed, and novelist and screenwriter Ahmed Murad participated.

The participants in the session, which was moderated by Issa Al Marzouqi, a news program presenter and broadcaster at Sky News Arabia, unanimously agreed on the importance of story and narration in cinematic work.

On the other hand, a session entitled “The Evolution of Consumer Tastes in the Era of Content Creation across Multiple Platforms” discussed the radical transformations that have occurred in content consumption and consumer tendencies, and how to achieve a balance between the diverse and purposeful content that the consumer aspires to.

Participating in the session were Mazen Hayek, media consultant, official spokesperson and former director of MBC Group, Moaz Sheikh, co-founder and CEO of STARZ Play, and Ashley Wright, vice president of marketing and growth for OSN.
