US court rejects Trump’s request that his tax data not be disclosed

The US District Court for the District of Columbia has dismissed former President Donald Trump’s lawsuit, in which he demanded that the House Committee on Ways and Means be denied access to his tax information.

As it follows from the resolution, the legislative interest of members of Congress outweighs “even the special respect of former presidents.”

The court drew attention to a number of precedents that emphasized the need to comply with the requirements of the US Congress.

The lawyer for the former head of state has 14 days to appeal this decision.

Trump is the first US president to refuse to disclose taxes.
The House committee resumed those actions in 2019, and last year the New York Times wrote that the former head of state had not paid income tax for ten years, to offset losses in the 1980s and 1990s.
