“Omicron” infiltrates rodents and plague carriers

 

Scientists who published their research on bioRxiv.com concluded that as a result of a “dangerous mutation”, the new strain of coronavirus “omicron” was able to enter the body of plague-bearing rodents.

Covid-19 possesses spike proteins to bind to the ACE2 receptor on the cell membrane. This is how the virus gets into the cell. “In contrast to other organic compounds, it appears that omicron was able to bind to rodents ACE2,” the study said.

In the history of mankind, the main carriers of plague were rodents living in the wild, near cities and other places where people congregate.

According to scientists, the plague bacillus penetrated Europe and the Middle East first as a result of climatic migrations of rodents from the steppes of Mongolia and China.
