American scientist Charles Lieber accused of hiding his ties with China

A US court has convicted the famous American scientist Charles Lieber of concealing scientific cooperation with China.

A Boston jury has admitted that the former dean of Harvard’s Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology filed incorrect tax returns with authorities and did not disclose that he had a Chinese bank account.

It is reported that the scientist, without the knowledge of the American employer, obtained a position at Wuhan University of Technology. Lieber earned a salary of $50 thousand per month, the university paid operating expenses of up to $150,000 and allocated more than $1.5 million to equip a research laboratory.

The scientist said that the main motive for him was not money, but universal recognition and the desire to receive the Nobel Prize.
