The Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology heads the UAE delegation participating in the meetings of the Industry Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Qatar

DOHA, 2nd May / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, headed the UAE delegation participating in the meetings of the Industrial Cooperation Committee and the Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which were held in the Qatari capital, Doha, yesterday, Wednesday, with the aim of strengthening relations. Among member states in the industrial sector and supporting joint efforts to achieve sustainable economic integration.

Qatar, which chairs the current session of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, hosted the meetings of the ministers of trade and industry, in addition to the preparatory meetings of the undersecretaries of the ministries of trade and industry, which were held last week, to discuss the agenda of the meetings, the latest developments, and the most prominent files and reports that will be submitted to the ministerial meetings.

During the 52nd meeting of the Industrial Cooperation Committee and the seventh meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs, a number of files related to enhancing joint cooperation at the industrial level and in the fields of Gulf specifications and standards were discussed, with a number of technical reports and future plans to enhance cooperation among member states being reviewed.

His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber conveyed the greetings of the leadership and government of the UAE and its keenness to strengthen Gulf strategic relations, especially in the field of investment and cooperation in a number of vital sectors and fields, thanking the State of Qatar, its leadership, government and people, for hosting these important meetings that support cooperation and partnership efforts. .

His Excellency pointed out that these meetings confirm the depth of relations between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in all fields, including the industrial sector, which plays an important role in supporting sustainable economic growth in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which is considered an Arab and regional model for economic cooperation, and the ability to achieve Sustainable economic development.

His Excellency expressed the aspiration of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology in the UAE to strengthen joint work and formulate a unified investment map to enhance the growth and development of the industrial sector based on employing modern technologies and advanced technology in a way that contributes to achieving the national goals of the GCC countries and ensures building a better and more sustainable future.

His Excellency said: We, in the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology in the UAE, focus on promoting the adoption of advanced technology and sustainability in the national industrial sector, raising the competitiveness of Emirati products, improving their quality, and enhancing the attractiveness of the Emirates as a regional and international center for industrial investments, including Gulf investments, and providing advantages, capabilities and incentives. And attractive financing solutions.

He pointed out that the UAE was able, thanks to the forward-looking vision of its wise leadership, to provide a pioneering model in strengthening economic and development partnerships and integrating the private sector into the process of sustainable growth.

His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber participated, during the meetings of the industry ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in the 52nd meeting of the Industrial Cooperation Committee, where a report was discussed on developments in finding a unified definition for the Gulf national product and its standards, and lists of goods subject to collective protection were discussed. And discussing the plan to implement the unified strategy for industrial development, and discussing the decision to raise the customs duty on imports of rebar and iron coils, in addition to discussing the presentation of the executive management in the Customs Union Authority about the challenges of the customs union.

His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber also participated in the seventh meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, where the report of the Chairman of the Gulf Standardization Organization on the progress of the body’s work for the period from September 2023 to March 2024 was heard.

At the level of specifications and standards, a memorandum from the presidency of the Gulf Standardization Organization was discussed regarding the adoption of 17 draft Gulf technical regulations, as well as the conversion of 39 draft technical regulations into standard specifications, and the withdrawal of two draft Gulf technical regulations was approved.

The ministers discussed a set of memorandums from the Presidency of the Gulf Standardization Organization, which include the final account of the Authority for the year 2023, and the developments of the Gulf Accreditation Center. They also discussed a memorandum from the Presidency of the Gulf Standardization Organization regarding approving the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Authority and the Russian Federal Agency for Technical Legislation and Metrology.

The list of ministers and officials who are members of the Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs includes: His Excellency Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Bahraini Minister of Industry and Trade, His Excellency Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, Saudi Minister of Commerce, His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al-Yousef, Omani Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion, and His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed. Bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatari Minister of Trade and Industry, His Excellency Abdullah Hamad Al-Joaan, Kuwaiti Minister of Trade and Industry, and His Excellency Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The delegation accompanying His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, included His Excellency Omar Suwayna Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, and His Excellency Osama Amir Fadl, Assistant Undersecretary for the Industrial Accelerators Sector at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.
