"Sharjah Reading" Promotes children’s awareness of endangered bird species

Sharjah, 3 May / WAM / The “Reading Council” platform at the “Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival,” currently held at the “Sharjah Expo Center,” hosted an awareness session organized by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the International Fund for Houbara Conservation in Abu Dhabi, under the title “Stories of the Houbara Houbara.”

The session – presented by Mohammed Jumaa Al-Dahmani, an official in the curriculum sector at the Ministry of Education – aimed to enhance children’s awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting bustard birds, and expand their awareness through interactive storytelling, in addition to educating them about the necessity of protecting the environment.

The Ministry of Education included these stories in the school curriculum in the appendix to the book on social studies and civic education, out of its keenness to raise students’ awareness of the importance of protecting endangered animals and to contribute to achieving the fourth goal of the 17 sustainable development goals, which is education.

It is worth noting that this reading session comes within an integrated program that includes more than 1,500 cultural, artistic and entertainment events presented by the 15th session of the “Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival”, which is being held until May 12 under the slogan “Be the hero of your story.”
