Our national team player Salem Abdul Rahman tied with Chinese Yu Yanji in the 7th Masters International Chess Championship

Sharjah, May 20 / WAM / Our national team and Sharjah club player Salem Abdul Rahman, ranked internationally (2629), tied with Chinese Yu Yanjie, ranked third in the championship (2728), in the seventh round of the seventh Sharjah Masters International Chess Championship.

The leader, the Indian international grandmaster Aravinda Chithambaram, who is internationally ranked (2670), suffered his first loss in the tournament to the Iranian Daneshvar Baradiya, who is internationally ranked (2581).

Najla Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Girls Chess and Culture Club, opened the seventh round of the tournament organized by the Sharjah Chess Cultural Club, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. Its competitions will continue until May 23 with the participation of 298 male and female players from 60 countries.

Iranian Amin Tabatabai tied with his Serbian competitor, Alexei Sarana, and American Hans Niemann suffered his first loss in the tournament at the hands of his compatriot Sam Shackland.

The tie also affected the result of the Iranian youth world champion, Parham Maqsoudlou, the holder of the Masters title in its second edition, and the Indian first seed, Arjun Eregaisi, the winner of the last edition’s title. The Uzbek youth world champion, Devahar Sindarov, lost to Ayden Suleimanli from Azerbaijan.

Iranian Daneshvar Pradia shares the lead with American Sam Shackland with 5.5 points each after the end of the seventh round. In second place are 6 players: Indian Aravinda Chithambaram, Iranian Amin Tabatabai, Serbian Alexei Sarana, Russian Morzin Volodar, Indian Arjun Irigaisi, and Azerbaijani Aiden Suleimanli. The third place includes 12 players with a score. 4.5 Player Salem Abdel Rahman.

The Challenge Championship witnessed a draw between Jegor Lashkin from Moldova and Indian Nitish Bolurkar, Indian Divya Deshmukh won over her compatriot Antonio Vianni, and Russian Leah Garifullina tied with Indian Antonio Vianni.

The draw was decided as a result of the match between Paraguay’s Delgado Ramirez and Indian Garg Aradia, Yemeni Bashir Al-Qadimi lost to Russian Vladimir Burmakin, and Jordanian Ahmed Al-Khatib lost to Indian Ajay Santosh.

Alizadeh Akshin from Azerbaijan shared the match point with his Indian counterpart Jaya Raj, and the Egyptian Ramez Samir lost for the first time in the tournament to the Indian Safin Khan, and the Syrian Hamza Masoud also lost to Younes Muhammad Zadeh from Azerbaijan, and the Libyan Muhammad Abu Raziqa to the Filipino Santiago German, and the match was tied. Asnad Valeeva from Azerbaijan with Indian Samart Gorai, and Omani Khalfan Al Hosani lost to Kanan Isbatov from Azerbaijan.
