Manchester City player accused of rape released on bail

Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy, accused of rape, has been released during a court hearing.

According to RMC Sport, the 27-year-old has been released on bail.

The Public Prosecution charged the player with four counts of rape and one count of assaulting sexual integrity. The 27-year-old categorically denies the charges.

Mendy has been with Manchester City since 2017. He played 49 matches for Citizens and scored two goals. He also played with Le Havre, Marseille and Monaco.
