Banjul, 6 May / WAM / The final statement of the Kings, Presidents and Princes of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the fifteenth session of the Islamic Summit Conference held in Banjul, Republic of The Gambia, stressed the importance of concerted efforts in confronting the humanitarian catastrophe occurring in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression for more than 6 years. The statement stressed the organization’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people in their struggle to achieve their inalienable rights, calling on the international community to force the occupying authority to abide by international law and United Nations resolutions, to end its illegal occupation and the necessity of enabling the Palestinian people to realize their legitimate national rights as recognized by them. He stressed the need to take all measures to protect the Islamic identity of Al-Quds Al-Sharif from all illegal measures and policies, as well as from attempts at Judaization pursued by the occupier, as well as from violations of the sanctity and status of Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
He called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and the provision of humanitarian, medical and relief aid, the provision of water and electricity, and the opening of humanitarian corridors to deliver urgent aid to the Gaza Strip without obstacles.
