The Ministry of Finance is looking into enhancing cooperation with the Saudi Spending Efficiency Authority

Abu Dhabi, 13 May / WAM / The Ministry of Finance discussed ways to share its experience in launching the digital procurement platform, the framework agreements concluded, the diversity of service providers, and exclusive privileges for entrepreneurs from small and medium enterprises, with an official delegation from the Spending Efficiency and Government Projects Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The government procurement solutions developed by the Ministry of Finance in the UAE have become a pioneering model that presents a new concept of government procurement, by providing lists of common products and services, which contributes to reducing the time required by the purchasing process from 60 days to 6 minutes in the case of purchasing from those lists, while enhancing Efficiency of government spending through framework agreements with suppliers to ensure the best prices and take into account the quality of products and services provided.

During the meeting he held with the Saudi delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Younis Haji Al Khouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, affirmed the Ministry of Finance’s keenness to share its pioneering experience with brothers and friends in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to also benefit from their distinguished experiences and expertise, in a way that serves national development in the two brotherly countries. It is in the interest of the two peoples and achieves their common aspirations.

Al-Khouri said: Throughout their history, the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have enjoyed distinguished relations, which the wise leaderships of the two countries were keen to strengthen and consolidate, generation after generation, within the framework of fraternal bilateral relations or within the framework of the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council, leading to the establishment of the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council under the leadership of Joint by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, so that all areas of cooperation and joint work between the two countries fall under its umbrella.

He added: Within the framework of this strategic cooperation, the two countries bring together a group of agreements and projects within 3 main axes, including the economic and financial axes, which contribute to consolidating gains, protecting interests, and creating new opportunities for the two brotherly peoples.

The meeting was attended by Her Excellency Maryam Mohammed Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Government Financial Management Affairs, Thuraya Hamid Al Hashemi, Director of International Financial Relations and Organizations at the Ministry of Finance, Azza Ali Al Jasmi, Director of the Government Communications Department, and Amna Hassan Al Shamsi, Acting Director of the Financial Policies and Government Accounting Standards Department.

It was also attended by the Spending Efficiency and Government Projects Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Khaled Al-Maliki, Executive Director of Empowerment of Infrastructure Sectors, Saqr Al-Salim, Executive Director of Strategic Purchasing, Ahmed bin Mahmoud, Executive Director of Operations and Control, and Shaden Al-Misnad, Acting Senior Director of International Cooperation.
