The ice hockey team wins bronze "World Cup Serbia"

Belgrade, April 28 / WAM / The UAE ice hockey team won third place and the bronze medal in the World Cup “Level Two – A”, after its victory yesterday over its Australian counterpart 5-4 in the fifth and final round of the tournament that was held in the Republic of Serbia from 21 to 27 Current April.

The players of the team that won two World Cup titles in 2022 and 2023, in both Luxembourg (third level – A) and Turkey (second level – B), played strong matches that led them to third place in the tournament.

Juma Mohammed Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Emirates Winter Sports Federation and head of the delegation, confirmed that achieving third place globally is a new sporting achievement added to the achievements of UAE sports in the World Championships as the first Arab team to reach this classification and compete in the second level A, stressing that the main goal has been achieved. By achieving an advanced position in the tournament with the participation of international teams.

Al Dhaheri extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, President of the Federation, for his continuous and careful follow-up of the team in all its participation, and his keenness to provide all requirements to prepare and qualify it to participate in international tournaments.
He also praised the UAE Embassy in Serbia’s follow-up of the team during its participation in the tournament and from the moment the delegation arrived in Belgrade.

Al Dhaheri praised the great role of the General Sports Authority and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in enabling the Emirati teams to prepare well, and supporting strategic plans for development and keeping pace with international standards.

He said: We thank all the players of the national team who participated in the tournament despite some injuries in their ranks, and provided positive performances against international teams of level and experience, and we always look forward to their best performance, which represents a motivation towards honorable results.

The captain of the team, Obaid Al-Muharrami, stressed that this achievement culminates the support and follow-up of the Federation’s Board of Directors, and highlights the great value of this team’s continued distinguished achievements, which represents an impetus for greater success in the coming period.
