Lando Norris is finally an F1 GP winner as McLaren ace delivers on his millionaire father’s investment in his early potential… the Brit who has been pictured with former Premier League star’s ex was always destined for glory

Lando Norris reached new heights as he entered the Formula One history books with a first Grand Prix win at the Miami GP, beating reigning world champion Max Verstappen.

An eventful event in the blistering American coastline heat saw Norris finally end his 110-race wait for a first GP victory as the McLaren star stormed ahead to clinch valuable points in the world and constructors championship.

Red Bull endured a nightmare safety car restart that gave British ace Norris a chance to overtake Verstappen and race ahead, sparking wild celebrations amongst McLaren’s ranks and the friends and supporters of the 24-year-old.

Bristol-born Norris becomes the first McLaren driver to win a main event for the British F1 team since Australian, Daniel Ricciardo, did so at Monza, Italy 2021 and also ends his wait to stand top of the podium.

Norris – the son of multi-millionaire businessman Adam Norris – cut an emotional figure as he was handed his first race championship title and even forced Sky Sports to issue an apology after accidentally swearing in his post-match interview.

Speaking to Jenson Button after the race, he said: ‘About time. F***! Sorry! What a race! It’s been a long time coming. Finally, I’ve managed to do it.

‘I’m so happy for my whole team. I finally delivered for them. Long day, tough race. Finally on top, so I’m over the moon. The whole weekend has been good. I’ve had some little setbacks along the way but I knew on Friday we had the pace.

‘Thanks to, everyone. I’ll give a shout-out to my mum and dad of course.’ Sky quickly apologised after the interview for Norris’ hilarious x-rated outburst.

But it’s been a long journey for the Miami GP winner to get to this point and one that is all the sweeter as Norris and McLaren finally broke Red Bull’s early-season stranglehold on the championship.

Norris became the youngest-ever British Formula One driver when he made his debut in the competition in 2019 at just 19-years-old at the Australian GP after coming through the ranks of the garage as an FP2 star.

A now seasoned star on the Formula One circuit and McLaren’s number one driver, Norris was a driver always destined to reach the heights of present day as he stood drenched in champagne on the Miami street track.

Starring on the go-karting scene, Norris was talent-spotted by McLaren and impressed by always breaking records even as a youngster with him remaining the youngest driver ever to set a pole position at a national meeting.

He went on to become a paddock star while racing on go-karts – where many Formula One world champions like Michael Schumacher, Max Verstappen, and Lewis Hamilton first discovered their racing talent and Norris in-turn became the youngest karting world championship winner at 14, a title previously held by Hamilton.

His family, father Adam, mother Cisca, elder brother Oli, younger sisters Flo and another Cisca, live in Glastonbury, Somerset, and Norris has moved to Monaco where he now resides amongst the sport’s elite.

Norris previously shared a flat with French-Argentine racing driver Sacha Fenestraz in Guildford, Surrey, less than 10 miles from the McLaren factory in Woking, but has since moved abroad.

McLaren always wanted Norris to become a champion amongst their ranks and his rise from former reserve driver and F2 star to becoming the team’s senior driver just last year shows their faith is paying off.

Team principal Zak Brown once called an even-more youthful Norris to his office in 2019 to tell him the news that he was being given a contract and full-time seat in Formula One, telling him at the time: ‘Welcome to Formula One.’

The Englishman took the news calmly at the time and has taken to the on and off-track demands that being one of the world’s biggest sporting celebrities brings with it.

Formula One’s media moguls have wrangled their product as being the glitzy and most glamorous event as their recent success in Miami showed and Norris is central to their image – and McLaren’s.

The energetic and motor-obsessed babyface of the sport has never looked unnerved by driving for McLaren and settled quickly in the sport, making podiums along the way but always falling short until passing the chequered flag first on Sunday.

110 starts for McLaren finally came to their best moment yet in the season’s seventh race of the calendar and Norris can now look to soaking in the American sunshine while toasting a first glorious GP victory.

His age and combined millionaire status make celebrations a grander affair with Norris renowned for occasions where even recently he got injured accidentally while playing around partying.

A night out in Amsterdam, Holland ahead of the Miami event saw Norris sustain a gruesome facial injury and was pictured sporting a cut on his face while on board a boat in the Dutch capital, having seemingly revelled in the King’s Day celebrations.

Images quickly circulated on social media showing Norris, 24, with a bloodied bandage stretched across his face – although he appeared in good spirits.

Any signs of pain born from that injury were quickly doused in champagne by Red Bull’s, Verstappen and Ferrari driver Charles LeClerc on the podium as the three celebrate and toasted to their success.

Norris’ popularity amongst his fellow competitors was evident more than ever to see at the end of the race as he embraced several drivers with whom he has become close-friends with over the years of lining up on the track alongside one another.

Mercedes driver George Russell – who finished eighth overall in Miami – put his arm around Norris as the pair enjoyed a brief moment of friendly conversation together amidst the chaos of post-race procedures and celebrations.

Former McLaren team-mate and now-RB Formula One Team driver – Daniel Ricciardo – was also pictured looking delighted while sharing a lengthy hug with Norris in the pits.

McLaren chief, Brown, looked like a dad full of pride when he roughly grabbed Norris and hugged his star driver who has finally delivered grand prix success for the team with a stunning win against the odds.

Away from the track and once he has had time to revel in celebrations Stateside, Norris will likely return to Monaco and try to settle back in his usual routine where he leads a sports-obsessed lifestyle aimed at bearing success.

Norris’ social media channels shows he is a lover of fast-growing sport Paddel and golf, where he strikes a unique fashion sense as he takes time away from racing.

The riches of his McLaren contract reward him with up to £20million-a-year, while his ever-growing profile as a rising social media star – where he often collaborates in videos with celebrity YouTubers – brings further endorsements give him the luxuries you’d expect from a F1 superstar.

Meanwhile, regular sightings alongside the ex-girlfriend of Barcelona footballer Joao Felix, Margarida Corceiro, only add to speculation and discussion about his romantic life.

The pair were recently spotted at the Monte-Carlo Masters final amid her split from Felix last year. Norris and Corceiro were first spotted together last May in a video on social media showing the 24-year-old driving his Fiat Jolly with her in the back of the classic car.

Norris had previously been dating Luisinha Oliveira, with the McLaren driver beginning a relationship with the Portuguese model at the start of 2022.

The relationship ended in September that year, with Norris confirming the split on social media.

Supercars and designer watches are amongst his collection that will now have to make room for a GP winners trophy that Norris was brave enough to dangle in the air – not least surprising after he smashed a trophy last year.

His time in Formula One is still relatively only at it’s beginning and while much has been discussed about Norris’ wait for a first victory, much should also be expected from his future as the Brit begins to purr inline with McLaren’s improvements that are making them more competitive with each and every passing race.
