It was our colleagues from “BFMTV” who revealed the information this Monday, April 29 in the morning: Gérard Depardieu has been questioned for several hours by the police. He faces new charges of sexual assault and could be placed in police custody.

New twist, and not the least, in the Gérard Depardieu affair: according to BFMTV, Gérard Depardieu was summoned by the courts this Monday, April 29, 2024 with a view to potential placement in police custody. Currently being heard in a Paris police station, he must answer two new charges of sexual assault and obscene remarks.

Could Gérard Depardieu soon be placed in police custody?

Currently in the premises of the third district of the judicial police according to the latest information from our colleagues at ParisianGérard Depardieu must answer to two new accusations of sexual assault: the first in 2014 on the set of Jean-Pierre Mocky’s film Magician and Siameseand the second during the filming of Green shutters by Jean Becker in 2021.

The first complainant, who filed a complaint last January after the shock of the broadcast of Further investigation against the 75-year-old actor, describes facts which first took place before filming, during preparation at the actor’s home. The one who was 24 years old at the time recounts touching and obscene remarks which were allegedly repeated on the set. The second complainant, a decorator now aged 53, also accuses Gérard Depardieu of sexual touching and inappropriate comments. “I’m going to stick my big umbrella in your ass”, he allegedly told her on the set of Jean Becker’s feature film. She explains that she managed to escape from the clutches of Gérard Depardieu thanks to the intervention of one of the members of the film crew. Forced to apologize, he reportedly declared: “I apologize since you have to apologize…”.

Complaints against Gérard Depardieu pile up

Remember that the actor is accused by around twenty other women of similar acts. He has been indicted for rape and sexual assault on actress Charlotte Arnould since December 2020, and an investigation was opened after the complaint of a former film assistant who accused him of sexual assault in 2014. Finally, another complaint for sexual assault, this time filed by the actress Hélène Darras for facts dating back to 2007, was closed last December for statute of limitations.

For his part, Gérard Depardieu has always denied the facts. In a column published in Le Figaro last October, he denounced a “lynching” orchestrated by a “a media tribunal”. “Never, ever, have I abused a woman”he even declared.
