A trait that increases your popularity with the opposite sex

Psychologists from the University of São Paulo, in Brazil, have discovered that a playful situation in life allows you to acquire a large number of romantic partners.

Fun is usually associated with flirting, but this concept is much broader and includes various aspects related to the situation in life – terrifying people do not care, like joking, and tend to improvise in solving life problems.
Previous observations have shown that this trait is evolutionarily favorable in mate selection—in males, it indicates non-aggression, while in females, it indicates youth and fecundity.
Scientists decided to test how fun increases the chances of more partners throughout life.

The study included 1,191 Brazilian adults. The volunteers reported how many romantic relationships they had in their lives. They also completed questionnaires that measured four aspects of fun: the tendency to engage others in games to build social relationships, the tendency to see life as a game and not worry too much about the future, the tendency to enjoy ideas and problem-solving, the tendency to seek pleasure in unusual situations and to be easily entertained by yourself Or about others in everyday communication.

The more points the participants score in the first dimension, the more relationships they tend to have, both in the short and long term. The women who scored higher in the latter dimension had more short-term relationships than the others.

The researchers note that “fun is very complex and can be divided into different types.” “Each type may affect some areas but not others, or work differently for certain groups.”

The study is all about averages, so you shouldn’t draw conclusions about others based on them, the authors caution. Because the work depends on a small number of residents of one country, and therefore, it is possible that the results for residents of other regions will be different.
