Cairo Media reviews new research tools to support environmental media research

This afternoon, Thursday, May 9, the College of Information organized a panel discussion entitled “Modern research trends in the field of the green economy,” on the sidelines of the activities of the twenty-ninth international scientific conference entitled “Media and the shift towards a green economy in light of environmental and climate changes.”

The session was opened by Professor Dr. Mona El-Hadidi, Professor of Radio and Television at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, who welcomed the audience and praised the efforts of the Faculty of Mass Communication in raising awareness of the educational role that the media plays in supporting environmental development and educating the public about climate preservation tools as an essential part of environmental formation.< /div>

 
 
 In this context, Dr. Dina Abu Zeid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Information at MTI University, said that the goals of environmental development are implementable, especially through the media. Digital, which is an effective partner in introducing environmental sustainability, in addition to the audience’s interaction, they are the target audience for awareness, and she concluded her speech on the importance of the journalist being able to delve deeply into this trend.
 
In the same context Professor Dr. Soheir Saleh, Dean of the Higher Institute of Media at Shorouk Academy, said that scientific and academic qualification is one of the most constructive steps that the state can invest in, especially in the basic educational stages up to university education, noting that providing green jobs, which is a new term that major countries are moving towards, has become It is extremely important in developing countries as well, by providing job opportunities in places that use clean energies, in addition to providing advanced technological capabilities that raise public awareness about investing in the green economy.

 

She concluded. Saleh made her intervention by referring to the prevailing international trend in the Gulf countries, which are considered pioneers and a model that other Arab countries should emulate in the transition to using clean energies and replacing harmful materials with other materials.
Professor Dr. Abeer Rifqi, Dean of the Faculty of Language and Media at the University, said: Alexandria: Environmental media is an integral part of development media that works to move collective thought to achieve sustainable development goals, noting that the role of environmental media in introducing the green economy and the necessity of transitioning to it has become extremely important, especially since this type of economy enhances the status of countries and their importance in The economic aspect.

 

Rifqi stated that every country is now adapting its resources in order to transition to a green economy, especially at a time when most countries in the world are facing financial crises and major climate threats, pointing out Egypt was one of the first countries to issue bonds to support environmental development as a whole and preserve the lives of individuals, whether from climate threats or social and economic risks as a whole.

 

Rafqi concluded her intervention with the necessity of directing graduation projects Students at the bachelor’s level to support development goals in the country, in order to educate student groups about the country’s agenda and its important issues, especially since these projects receive financial and propaganda support from various government institutions, most notably the Ministry of Local Development and Social Solidarity.

In a related context, Professor Dr. Reem Adel, Head of the Media Research and Studies Department at the Arab Research and Studies Institute of the League of Arab States, stated that the last decade has witnessed a growing use of the term corporate sustainability, which is an approach based on 7 rules for corporate sustainability, which supports adaptation. With clean environmental resources, disclosing sustainability practices and the consumption of clean energies, and gaining public support for these practices, pointing out that Egypt has become in dire need of activating this term in its meaning and tools, especially in the sectors of the mining, leather and other industries that have the greatest impact on clean air.

She added that corporate sustainability is a leadership role that is undertaken by the state and adopted and subsequently implemented by various companies. As for the corporate level, this role is concerned with the management style, activating internal and external communications, and drawing a good mental image among the public. Dr. Fathia Sabry, Lecturer of Public Relations and Advertising, Faculty of Information, Cairo University, explained that interest in the green economy must be the main concern of all segments of society, as it is the responsibility Protecting the environment is not the responsibility of individuals or institutions, but rather the responsibility of all of us. She emphasized that there are 3 stages of green marketing, the first of which was in the sixties and was talking about the scarcity of resources, and the second of which was in the eighties and constituted a turning point in studies, due to the environmental disasters witnessed in this period, which are The third stage in sustainable green marketing, and thus putting the environment in our eyes when making any decision. 

 

Sabry added that there are companies that focus on resources in order to appear environmentally friendly, and there are others Focusing on the price, it must be high in price compared to normal prices. The company must be able to bear greater expenses to preserve the environment, noting that the deterioration of environmental conditions despite global interest in environmental issues is due to poor attention to the environment, as interest in it is seasonal and due to the occurrence of an environmental problem to be understood. The extent of the problem, in addition to placing the blame and protecting the environment on the government. 

 

In turn, Professor Mohamed Habib, editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram newspaper, said that his relationship with the green economy began in the eighties in London when… His attendance at a scientific conference. Habib pointed out that the scientific climate is the first step towards achieving sustainable development and achieving the concept of a green economy, citing the Japanese experience that applied environmental research and benefited from its results and not just placing them in libraries, indicating that the Ministry of Scientific Research is concerned. By paying attention to activating the results of this research and applying them to society according to its requirements and needs.

 

For his part, Dr. Saber Asran, a professor in the Department of Radio and Television at the Faculty of Information, Cairo University – and the follower of the session – said that the issue of controlling Terminology is an essential element in the process of scientific research, especially environmental research, which contains a group of relatively new terms such as green economy and others. He pointed out that the session established the basics of environmental scientific research, its role and the requirements for work in this extremely important and influential research specialization, as it is a future awareness-raising specialization at the same time.
