Saif bin Zayed opens a conference and exhibition "Seamless Middle East 2024"

Dubai, May 15 / WAM / His Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, yesterday, Tuesday, opened the activities of the Digital Economy Technologies Conference and Exhibition “Seamless Middle East 2024”, which is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The event, which continues until May 16, is sponsored by the League of Arab States, organized by the Arab Federation for the Digital Economy, and Terrapin International Conference Organizing Company.

The organization of the event comes within the context of the Arab Vision for the Digital Economy project that was announced in Abu Dhabi in December 2018 with the generous support and sponsorship of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and which was approved at the Arab Leaders Summit held in 2022.
Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the opening session of the conference, and His Highness and the attendees witnessed the announcement of the results of the Arab Index for the Digital Economy “2024” report, the launch of the initiative to establish the “Hikma” Center for Scientific Research at the level of Arab and Islamic countries, and the Arab Artificial Intelligence Initiative to support innovation and development. Sectoral solutions and access to information in Arabic, in addition to listening to the keynote speeches delivered at the opening ceremony.

The opening was attended by His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, His Excellency Eng. More than 500 speakers will participate in the Digital Economy Technologies Conference and Exhibition in 200 sessions and lectures, and more than 25,000 officials from the public and private sectors, representing more than 5,000 institutions from 130 countries, while the number of companies and institutions exhibiting exceeded 720 international companies and 400 startups.
The main topics of the conference include digital banking services, digital identity, financial technology, digital currencies, electronic and digital payments, e-commerce, the retail sector, logistics services, e-marketing, and digital banking services.

During a tour of the exhibition accompanying the conference, His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, accompanied by the conference guests, was briefed on the latest technology findings in the fields of electronic and digital payments, e-commerce, the retail sector, financial technology, digital identity, banking, and logistics services.

During the event, the Arab Federation for the Digital Economy launched the updated version of the “Arab Digital Economy Index 2024”, and its results showed that the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council continue to lead in the field of digital growth, and the UAE comes at the forefront of these countries with a remarkable distinguished performance, and the report indicated that Despite the global challenges, the UAE maintains its position as a major reference in digital development, which highlights its leadership in this field.
The Union also launched the Arab and Islamic Center for Joint Scientific Research “Hikma”, in partnership with the British Institute of Technology, with the aim of establishing a scientific research complex at the level of Arab and Islamic countries, and paying attention to issues of technology development and the digital economy.

The Federation launched the Arab Program for Artificial Intelligence Applications initiative in partnership with a group of international investment companies, with the aim of developing a generative artificial intelligence system in the Arabic language. The initiative focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into basic sectors such as education, health, and government services. To enhance the efficiency of operational processes and innovation.

For his part, Lord Merlin Hay stressed the pivotal role of international research cooperation in advancing technological progress and scientific discovery in the digital age, praising the UAE, which has become a model of stability and peace, a center for global investment and innovation, and its role in enhancing Arab cooperation, especially through the Arab Vision for the Digital Economy initiative.
