US stock indices closed mixed

NEW YORK, May 18 / WAM / The main stock indices on the US Wall Street Stock Exchange closed mixed at the end of trading on Friday.
The standard Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the trading session higher by 134.21 points, or 0.3%, to reach 40,003.59 points.
The broader Standard & Poor’s 500 index increased 6.17 points, or 0.1%, to 5,303.27 points.
The Nasdaq Composite Index of technology stocks lost 12.35 points, or 0.1%, to 16,685.97 points.
