Strong recovery for China’s civil aviation sector in April
BEIJING, 18 MAY / WAM / The Civil Aviation Administration of China announced strong growth in the civil aviation sector during the month of April, as it rose with an annual increase of 21.6% compared to the same period in 2019.
The Chinese People’s Daily reported on its website, citing the administration, that passenger traffic witnessed a notable increase, with 55.95 million passengers transported, an annual increase of 10.6% compared to April 2022, and an increase of 5.3% compared to the same period in 2019.
Domestic transport traffic recorded an increase of 8.1% compared to the same period in 2019, while international transport traffic exceeded 5 million passengers, representing an 83.8% recovery from pre-pandemic levels.
The administration indicated that international transport traffic continued to recover at a pace exceeding 80% for the third month in a row.
In a further indication of recovery, the volume of air freight of goods and mail in April reached 684 thousand tons, an annual increase of 25.3% compared to the same period in 2019.
