Urgent.. Britain deports an asylum seeker to Rwanda

The United Kingdom deported an asylum seeker to Rwanda, in the first operation of its kind, as part of a voluntary deportation program for migrants whose asylum requests were rejected, according to what British media reported yesterday, Tuesday.

In Last week, the British Parliament passed a law allowing the government to deport to Rwanda migrants who entered the country irregularly.

The Conservative government, headed by Rishi Sunak, intends to begin deportations in this framework by July.

The man, who left the United Kingdom on Monday, had agreed to leave for Kigali after his asylum application was rejected, according to British media.

The Times reported: Citing government sources, the man agreed to be deported in exchange for a sum of three thousand pounds sterling.

A government spokesman said: “We are currently authorized to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda within the framework of our partnership in the areas of migration and economic development.”

He added: “This agreement allows people who do not have immigration status to the United Kingdom to be transferred to a third safe country where they will be helped to rebuild their lives.”

And on Tuesday, the British government announced It expressed its hope that a specific group of 5,700 asylum seekers would be deported to Rwanda “by the end of the year,” after the adoption of a controversial law aimed at preventing irregular crossings of the Channel.
