Evolution’ Sets Season 2 Premiere Date at Paramount+

Season 2 of “Criminal Minds: Evolution” has set its premiere date at Paramount+.

The new 10-episode season will debut its first two episodes on June 6, with new episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays thereafter.

The official description of the new season states that it “picks up as the FBI’s elite team of profilers investigates the deadly mystery of Gold Star. As the conspiracy unfolds, the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) is met with an unexpected complication when serial killer Elias Voit negotiates a deal that transfers him to federal custody in the BAU’s own backyard. The team faces its biggest threat yet and cannot emerge unscathed from the mind-bending consequences.”

Season 1 of the series saw the FBI’s BAU team dealing with an unsub who built a network of serial killers during the COVID lockdowns, forcing the team to hunt them down one at a time.

The series stars original “Criminal Minds” cast members Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Zach Gilford, Ryan-James Hatanaka with Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster. Felicity Huffman will guest star in the new season as well as Dr. Jill Gideon, the ex-wife of Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin).

Erica Messer serves as showrunner and executive producer on “Criminal Minds: Evolution.” Breen Frazier, Chris Barbour, Glenn Kershaw, and Mark Gordon also executive produce. ABC Signature and CBS Studios produce.

“Criminal Minds: Evolution” serves as a continuation of the original “Criminal Minds,” which aired for 15 seasons on CBS before concluding in 2020. The first season of “Evolution” aired on Paramount+ in 2022.
