NYT: The Russian army is ready to invade Ukraine

The New York Times, citing a high-ranking Ukrainian official, wrote that the Russian army is completing final preparations for combat with Ukraine.

According to the representative of the Ukrainian side, the Russian army is not yet ready for a “total invasion”, but a number of army units have already reached their full combat power. He added that soon, if ordered by the Kremlin, they could start hostilities.

The article notes that the transfer of 10,000 military personnel, including infantry and airborne troops, to Crimea is of particular concern to Ukrainian officials.

At the same time, Kiev allegedly has satellite images that indicate that the troops stationed near the Kerch Strait and at the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol have been transferred to the highest level of readiness.

The Ukrainian side believes that this may mean that Russia is soon ready to start hostilities about 1,290 kilometers from the eastern and southern borders of Ukraine.
