Tim Tszyu’s opponent, Vergil Ortiz, sends brutal message to Aussie with savage knockout win: ‘Let’s get ready for World War 3’

Vergil Ortiz has sent a blunt message to Tim Tszyu ahead of their August showdown by finishing his opponent with a savage Round 1 body shot in Los Angeles.

Ortiz needed to beat Thomas Dulorme on Sunday to set up his fight with Tszyu, and the American knockout artist did just that via a left hook to the body that dropped Dulorme to the canvas and left him writhing in agony.

Ortiz’s record remained perfect, at 21-0 with 21 KOs, and he didn’t waste time calling out the Aussie.

‘Hey Tim man, I know you’re watching this fight right now. I’m ready for you, man,’ Ortiz said.

‘We’re ready. Let’s get ready for World War Three.’

When questioned about the matchup with Tszyu, Ortiz stated: ‘I just want to fight the best.’

‘I don’t care if it’s the right time or not.

‘People are judging my opponent selection. I don’t choose my opponents, I just take them out. That’s all I have to do. That’s my job.

‘I’m gonna take everybody out.’

Tszyu responded on X shortly afterwards, writing: ‘Me and Vergil Ortiz the real main event’.

The pair will square off as the co-main event on the headlined by Terrence Crawford’s bout with WBA super welterweight champ Israil Madrimov.

The Aussie star is still medically suspended after his fight with Sebastian Fundora on March 30 where he suffered a deep gash to his head at the end of Round 3.

 Ortiz’s promoter, boxing icon Oscar de la Hoya, is predicting a short night for his fighter when he meets Tszyu.

‘With Tim Tszyu, it’s going to be a war,’ De la Hoya said. 

‘I’m a thousand per cent confident in my guy, but you can’t sleep on Tim Tszyu.

‘I love his style, his aggression, and his power. This fight will be a clash of the titans.

‘Vergil Ortiz stopping this fight in one round will give him the confidence to go back to the gym and I promise you, he will knock Tim Tszyu out.’
