We’re always happy to see Natasha Lyonne appear in a film or television series; her particular brand of crisp-voiced sarcasm usually helps make everything better.

Marvel clearly feels that way, according to Deadline, Lyonne now joins ‘The Fantastic Four’, the company’s great opportunity to add its First Family to its Cinematographic Universe. And Lyonne seems to fit perfectly into an eclectic ensemble that is already raising surprises and expectations.

The film, which finally sees Marvel’s most famous comic book superheroes (although X-Men fans might argue that) join the company’s sprawling Cinematic Universe, is being kept largely under wraps.

Marvel hasn’t said anything about the story, although its first images suggest a period setting.

The main characters of the title are being played by Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bacharach (Ben Grimm/The Thing ). .

In addition to Lyonne, this film’s eclectic cast includes British actor Ralph Ineson (as the planet-eating troublemaker Galactus), ‘Ozark’s Julia Garner (as a version of the Silver Surfer), Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich (both without characters confirmed at this time).

As for who Lyonne will play? That has not been revealed yet either. So make your own guess! A gender-swapped Wilhelmina Lumpkin? Do you give a voice to HERBIE the robot? (Probably not). Whatever it is, we’re interested.

Matt Shakman, who worked on ‘WandaVision’, directs the film, working from a script that featured contributions from Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. And ‘WandaVision’s Peter Cameron also did some work once Shakman boarded the project.

Lately the actor has been busy and not just acting. She co-created and starred in the twisted Netflix series ‘Russian Doll’ and, most recently, was a producer and star of the crime series ‘Poker Face’, in which she played a woman blessed/cursed with the ability to know when people They are lying to him and he uses it to solve crimes.

While ‘Russian Doll’ appears to be in limbo, ‘Poker Face’ will return for a second season. In addition to shows, Lyonne will lend her voice to the animated film ‘The Smurfs Musical’ (out February 14 next year) and has a role in Taika Waititi’s new film, the sci-fi drama ‘Klara and the Sun’.
