"Emirates Global Aluminium" Launches a platform for digital manufacturing

Abu Dhabi, May 15 / WAM / Emirates Global Aluminium, today announced the launch of one of the first digital manufacturing platforms in the region with the aim of creating more value through applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, as part of its strategic partnership with Microsoft to accelerate the pace of the company’s digital transformation plan.

The platform easily integrates hardware, software, processes, and people into all of the company’s locations around the world. It was established using the latest generation of Microsoft Azure cloud (Microsoft Azure Hybrid), where artificial intelligence is widely used across the company’s industrial operations globally, including Jebel Ali and Al Taweelah. It contributes to improving the efficiency, quality and safety of industrial processes.

The platform is based on advanced digital architecture previously used in defense and space projects and combines the advantages of public and private cloud processing within the company.

The new digital manufacturing platform enables EGA to reduce the cost of performing AI-based image and video analytics by more than 80%, while increasing the speed of its implementation by up to 13 times compared to the solutions previously adopted by the company.

The new digital manufacturing platform allows the processing of more than 2.9 petabytes of real-time data annually, the equivalent of streaming more than 32,000 4K movies, and the company will continue to increase this capacity in the future.
