A committee "Limitation of damages" It meets to evaluate the repercussions on infrastructure and dams as a result of the weather condition

Abu Dhabi, April 28 / WAM / The Committee for Inventorying the Damages of Floods and Rains on Infrastructure, which was formed by the Council of Ministers headed by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and whose membership includes ministries and federal and local authorities, held its first meeting, to discuss action plans and determine priorities to assess the state of damage to the infrastructure. Roads and dams, as a result of the unprecedented weather condition that the country has not witnessed in more than 75 years.

At the beginning of the meeting, which was held via video communication technology and chaired by His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and attended by Their Excellencies the Undersecretaries of the Ministry, and included representatives of the committee members from the federal and local authorities, the terms of reference and tasks of the committee that was formed by a decision of the Council of Ministers were presented. Responsibility for assessing the damage and proposing appropriate solutions to address it. Four technical and specialized committees were also formed, the first concerned with roads and infrastructure, the second with housing and property, the third with dams and water facilities, while the fourth committee concerned with energy and water.

His Excellency the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure appreciated the efforts of field work teams from various federal and local government agencies, along with community members, who continued their work day and night, which contributed to protecting lives and property, enhancing safety, and quickly removing the effects of weather instability and the unprecedented rainfall that accompanied it. And service facilities, including bridges, roads and dams, returned to their usual work in record time. His Excellency also directed the work teams to begin immediate work in light of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and his brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, to limit the damage and find Urgent solutions needed for the various regions of the country affected by the exceptional weather condition, and preparing an integrated operational plan to repair all damage to the infrastructure, road network, housing and dams, and setting a week to submit a detailed report on the tasks completed.

His Excellency explained that specialists have been assigned the task of preparing comprehensive studies on the need for dams and water canals for expansion and development, so that they are ready for any future developments, and in a way that contributes to containing similar weather conditions that may occur in the future, stressing that the primary goal is to ensure the speedy restoration of the infrastructure to its normal condition. And developing practical solutions that contribute to enhancing the quality of infrastructure in the face of weather fluctuations and emergencies.

His Excellency said: The Ministry has begun coordinating with the concerned authorities to determine the damage to citizens’ homes, to immediately begin providing aid and logistical and technical support to ensure speedy completion and quality of work, which represents a positive step towards enhancing residential security, and contributes to achieving a quick and effective recovery for those affected and alleviating the suffering.
