Intensive international activity of the Minister of Higher Education during the month of April

The file of supporting and strengthening relations between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and prestigious international institutions receives great attention from the Ministry, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to pay attention to this important file, with the aim of supporting and strengthening joint cooperation efforts and exchanging experiences with various international and regional bodies and institutions for the benefit On the educational and research system in Egypt.

 

The culture of internationalization, enhancing cooperation with distinguished international institutions, and the transformation from the local system to the regional and international system became an urgent necessity, which required change and development in the philosophy of higher education. Its trends and strategies, so internationalization has become one of the goals of the plan to develop the higher education system in Egypt, in order to compete globally, and in line with achieving the goals and principles of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research.

 

In this context, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held many important meetings and interviews with officials from international and regional institutions during the month of April 2024, and this was as follows:

Dr. Ayman Ashour received the Minister of Education Higher education and scientific research, Mr. Arturas Gailiunas, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in Cairo; To discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research between the two countries; The two sides discussed ways of cooperation between Lithuanian universities and new technological universities, as the Minister pointed out that there are 10 new technological universities, distributed in various governorates of the Republic, offering study programs in various fields, such as (information technology, engineering, manufacturing, energy, and agriculture); The new technological universities aim to enhance cooperation between universities and industrial institutions, and develop curricula to keep pace with the latest technological developments.

 Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Mr. Christian Berger, European Union Ambassador in Cairo, and the two sides discussed working mechanisms to enhance cooperation in the European Union program to support higher education, especially the “Erasmus Plus” program. Which aims to provide individual scholarships to students and researchers in European countries, and to encourage student exchange, as well as the “Horizon Europe” program. To encourage scientific innovation, the Partnership for Research and Innovation Initiative in the Middle East “PRIMA” program, and other programs that support higher education and scientific research.

 Dr. Ayman Ashour received the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. George Andreas Hachche, Minister of State for Science, Culture and Tourism in the German state of Saxony, Mr. Tobias Kreuze, Deputy German Ambassador to Cairo, and their accompanying delegation; With the aim of discussing ways to enhance joint cooperation, the meeting witnessed the signing of a letter of intent with the aim of establishing a platform for joint activities that is compatible with scientific, artistic and academic values, and enhances intellectual property protection and mutual respect, as well as promoting a safe and comprehensive scientific research environment, as well as enhancing accuracy and integrity in the field of research and information security.

 Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received Mr. Dan Munyuza, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda in Cairo. To discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education and scientific research, and the meeting dealt with increasing the number of scholarships provided to Rwanda, in the specializations of (medicine, engineering, information technology, pharmacy, and agriculture); To provide high-quality educational opportunities for Rwandan students, which qualifies them to contribute to the development of their country, in light of the growth and development that the State of Rwanda seeks.

 

 Dr. received Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Graham Baldwin, President of the University of Central Lancashire, United Kingdom, and his accompanying delegation; The meeting discussed the experience presented by the University of Central Lancashire branch in the Administrative Capital, from engineering programs in several specializations, which include (mechatronics engineering, smart devices, sports car engineering, computer engineering using design, electrical engineering, space and aviation engineering, electronics engineering, and energy engineering). New and renewable, civil engineering, and architectural design engineering). The minister also drew attention to the political leadership’s interest in technological education and the keenness to benefit from global expertise in light of the expansion of the establishment of technological universities, and the importance of the participation of the Lancashire University branch in Egypt in increasing cooperation with the industrial community in the United Kingdom in order to help To prepare students for the international labor market.

 

 Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mohamed Ould Omar, Director General of the Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and the two sides discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the Ministry and the organization in various educational and research fields, including exchanging experiences and information, organizing conferences and seminars, supporting scientific research projects, and enhancing cooperation between Arab universities. And studying the provision of a number of scholarships in various specializations for people of Arab countries experiencing unstable conditions, by applying to the “Egy Aid” platform. For international students, as well as Egypt’s participation in the conference of ministers responsible for higher education and scientific research in the Arab world, which will be organized by ALECSO in Dubai during the period from 25 to 27 next November.

 Dr. received Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mrs. Ingrid Amer, Estonia’s Ambassador to Cairo; To discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research between the two countries. The meeting discussed areas in which cooperation between the two countries could be possible, including the exchange of students and professors, joint research projects, cultural exchange programs, and the study of the Arabic language. In this context, it was agreed to hold joint meetings between the two countries to develop a road map. To enhance cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research.

 Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a delegation from the British University of Aberdeen, headed by Dr. John Scuten, dean of the university’s business school; To discuss ways of joint cooperation, the two sides discussed the possibility of opening a branch of the British University of Aberdeen in Egypt, and the Minister affirmed the Ministry’s welcome of cooperation with the prestigious University of Aberdeen, which is one of the most prominent British universities, and has a distinguished ranking in international classifications, and cooperation in the field of scientific research, in areas of common interest. Between the two countries, whether through the exchange of researchers or joint research projects.

 

 Dr. received. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ambassador Kemoko Diakite, Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal in Cairo; To discuss ways to strengthen scientific relations between the two countries, especially in the fields of higher education and scientific research. The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Senegal in the educational and academic fields, especially in the field of higher education and scientific research. The two sides also discussed the possibility of exchanging students and professors between Egyptian and Senegalese universities, and cooperation in the field of joint research, cultural exchange programs, and the study of the Arabic language.

 Dr. received Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Alastair Jarvis, Vice-President of the University of London, who received the highest honor from the United Kingdom for his distinguished achievements in the field of higher education. During the meeting, Mr. Alistair Jarvis reviewed the new expansions of the University of London branch of European universities in the Administrative Capital, especially in Field of graduate studies, such as: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Master’s degree and Doctorate in Law.
