Minister of Environment: Developing environmental curricula in universities and managing healthcare and electronic waste

 

The Ministry of Environment held, through a project  "Air Pollution and Climate Change Management in Greater Cairo"   With the first component of the project " Strengthening the air quality decision support system. This is within the framework of the World Bank’s mid-term mission review meetings for the project, where a series of meetings are scheduled to be held to discuss the development of the project’s activities, challenges, and solutions, in the presence of members of the World Bank, advisors to the first component of the project, and representatives of the Environmental Affairs Agency.

 

Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, confirmed that the meeting discussed the accreditation of environmental experts, to be linked with the registration and accreditation system of the Ministry of Environment, in  A framework for modernizing and developing the performance of the system for qualifying and appointing individuals who wish to obtain certificates of environmental consultant or certified environmental specialist from the Environmental Affairs Agency.  The development of university curricula and knowledge of the current status of curricula were discussed at Ain Shams University and Cairo University, with regard to environmental sciences, which are affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education. It was concluded that development must keep pace with international standards, and contain all environmental sciences and not be limited to the air quality system. Only. And the World Bank team, in order to discuss the activities of the sixth component, where they agreed on the priority activities and determined the duration of implementation of each activity, whether activities related to integrated management of electronic waste, or health care waste, and the formulation of performance indicators was completed, and environmental safety standards were discussed. And social safety, with regard to the management of electronic waste and health care waste.
