The Committee for Attracting and Retaining Global Talents discusses ways to adopt best practices to achieve its national goals

ABU DHABI, 21st May / WAM / Today, the Committee for Attracting and Retaining Global Talents held its seventh meeting since its formation and the second for the current year 2024, headed by His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Minister in charge of attracting the best talents and competencies.

During the meeting, the most prominent foundations and standards that will be taken into consideration in the new phase of the national strategy to attract and retain global talent were discussed, ensuring the adoption of international best practices in this regard and supporting the achievement of relevant strategic national goals.

His Excellency Dr. Thani Al-Zeyoudi stressed that the UAE, thanks to the vision of its wise leadership, is always keen to continue adopting the best global practices, to support the economy based on knowledge and innovation by empowering all economic sectors, by attracting people with high minds and competencies, which contributes to strengthening the country’s position. As a preferred destination for global talent and to support the sustainable growth of the national economy, in line with the We Are the Emirates 2031 vision and the goals of the next fifty years.

His Excellency said: It is very important for the committee to be informed of the best international practices and the latest developments on the scene in the areas of attracting and retaining talent, in order to adopt the ideas and visions proposed by the members of the committee to launch new initiatives and programs in a way that supports the implementation of the national strategic direction in this field, and contributes to empowering the economy. knowledge, and for the UAE to become one of the leading countries in the field of talent competitiveness, and to increase the country’s competitiveness in the areas of attracting and retaining talent and raise its position in the indicators of the global competitiveness report.

His Excellency stressed that understanding the main factors and challenges that affect attracting and retaining international talent constitutes an essential axis in building the new phase of the strategy, as the exchange of visions and ideas between members of the committee during the meeting confirms the existence of an institutional culture at the state level that seeks to embrace talent and highly qualified people. Providing the appropriate climate for them, and creating more opportunities and capabilities that help them achieve more innovation and creativity.

The meeting witnessed a workshop presented by a group of international specialist experts, during which the latest developments on the global scene and a set of practices adopted by a number of leading countries in attracting and retaining talent were reviewed, in addition to exchanging views, ideas and experiences with members of the committee to understand the main factors and challenges that face It affects the attraction and retention of global talent, and the possibility of adopting these ideas during the new phase of the Global Talent Attraction and Retention Strategy 2031.

It is noteworthy that the Committee for Attracting and Retaining Global Talents seeks to achieve its goals within three main axes in 2031, which are: firstly, consolidating the country’s position as one of the ten leading countries in the field of global talent competitiveness, and secondly, ensuring the attraction of strategic talents in a way that contributes to empowering the knowledge economy in the country. So that it is among the top ten countries in the high-level skills index, and thirdly, it is consolidating the UAE’s position as a preferred destination for global talent by being one of the three leading countries in gaining minds and in the ease of finding high-level skills.

The committee’s membership includes representatives of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Community Development, the Ministry of Culture, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, the Abu Dhabi Residents Office – Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, and the Department of Economy and Tourism – Dubai. The Emirates Scholars Council, and the Emirates Council for Artificial Intelligence.

This committee was formed based on a decision by the Council of Ministers regarding the national strategy to attract and retain talent in the UAE.
