Patrick Bruel tries his hand at rap and the opinions are (very) mixed

For his new tour, Patrick Bruel tried a new genre on stage: Rap. A novelty that has not convinced all its fans…

He’s back on stage. Patrick Bruel has been on tour throughout France since February for the release of his new album Once again. The singer performs hits from his repertoire from the 80s to today. And on stage, the artist performed a piece that caused a lot of talk…

Patrick Bruel: his Rap surprises (and disappoints)

Remember: in 2014, Patrick Bruel signed a new duet title with a famous rapper. The singer mixed French Variety and Rap with La Fouine for Children’s ailments, a song committed in partnership with e-Enfance, the association fighting against cyberharassment. The rapper signed the verse at the end, in which he rapped.

This title appears on the setlist of songs from Patrick Bruel’s new tour. And to make up for the absence of La Fouine on stage, the 65-year-old star decided to sing the words of his verse herself.

In a video published on Twitter, we see Patrick Bruel launching into a wild Rap in front of his audience. The gestures, the voice… The singer reinvents himself for a few moments. A performance that made Internet users react: did Patrick Bruel succeed in the exercise? “He came out of his comfort zone, it’s good that he tried to do something else”first greets an Internet user. “I find great energy, afterwards, for the flow..”, “I’m mixed”, others reacted, undecided. But for some, this rap is a dismal failure – even ridiculous. “Is this a joke?! Tell me it’s artificial intelligence”, “The way he moves his hand strikes me”, “Boycott Patoch”they commented.

A new duo with La Fouine? Bruel responds cash

The interpretation of Children’s ailments by Patrick Bruel came after a tweet from La Fouine about him. Last March, an Internet user asked the rapper if he was considering a new duet with the singer. His answer : “Never !” The reason ? Their differences around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Patrick Bruel thus declared to The gallery on February 4: “If your question is do I feel threatened as a Jew, the answer is yes. But especially as a citizen.”

La Fouine, for his part, questioned the actor Omar Sy and the comedian Jamel Debbouze on their “silence” around the victims of the conflict in Palestine. “Your silence on the 30,000 Palestinian deaths disappoints me a lot, we are guys from Trappes, we wear our c***** normally”, he denounced on Twitter. The fans are definitely not ready to see the Bruel/La Fouine duo on stage again…
