US will not supply Ukraine with nuclear weapons

The US Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas Greenfield, said at an emergency meeting of the Security Council, which was held in the framework of Russia’s recognition of the popular republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, that Washington does not intend to provide Kiev with nuclear weapons.

“The Russian president has claimed . . that Ukraine is trying to obtain nuclear weapons from the West. Ukraine is one of four countries in the world that have voluntarily given up nuclear weapons,” Greenfield said.
“Neither the United States nor our allies have any intention of providing nuclear weapons to Ukraine, and Ukraine does not want to.”
