Warner Bros. working on the film “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum”

Film company Warner Bros. is working on two new films based on John R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. The new film with the working title “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” will be dedicated to Gollum, who was played by actor Andy Serkis in the original trilogy. He will return to his role in the new film and will also act as a director.

Also, the director and screenwriter of the films “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” Peter Jackson will take part in the work on the future film. He will supervise every stage of the creation of the tape, told at Warner Bros. Jackson will be joined by his co-writers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.

Scripts for new films are in the early stages of development. The premiere of the first film is scheduled for 2026.

Peter Jackson’s previous six films – “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” – have grossed about $6 billion worldwide. The final film, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, won 17 Oscars in 2004.
