Muhammad Al-Sharqi meets a delegation of geologists and engineers at Oxford University

FUJAIRAH, 15th May, 2017 (WAM) – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, met in his office at the Emiri Diwan with a delegation of geologists and engineers from Oxford University, in the presence of Engineer Ali Qasim, Director General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Foundation.

During the meeting, they exchanged talks about the “Geological Heritage and Tourism Project” in the Emirate of Fujairah, and its objectives in supporting the tourism sector in the emirate.

His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah stressed the interest that the Fujairah government attaches to developing the tourism sector in all its forms, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, to pay attention to geotourism projects that reflect the cultural identity of the UAE, and contribute to enhancing its internal and external tourism.

Engineer Ali Qasim gave a detailed presentation about the project, which aims to highlight the unique geological sites in the Emirate of Fujairah, and transform them into attractive tourist destinations.

The delegation discussed future work plans for the project, including conducting more geological studies and research, developing tourist facilities in the targeted sites, and organizing educational awareness programs about the importance of geological heritage.

His Highness praised the work of the University of Oxford in the field of heritage and geotourism, stressing the importance of this type of projects that focus on paying attention to archaeological and cultural sites and making them attractive tourist destinations.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Director of the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah.
