Yulia Navalnaya and FBK became laureates of the DW Prize “For Freedom of Speech”

Deutsche Welle Prize for Freedom of Expression in 2024 awarded Yulia Navalnaya and the Anti-Corruption Foundation. The award winners were announced on May 3, World Press Freedom Day. The award presentation will take place on June 5 in Berlin.

“Yulia Navalnaya has from the very beginning supported the political activities of her husband Alexei Navalny in the fight for freedom of the press and freedom of expression in Russia – despite all the risks, constant threats and personal restrictions,” said DW CEO Peter Limburg. “I bow to her unwavering “The courage, the conviction and the strength with which she fights for a free Russia and defends the interests of those whom Vladimir Putin wants to silence.”

In April, Alexey and Yulia Navalny became laureates of the international Media Freedom Award. They were awarded the prize for “the courage shown in the resistance movement” and for “the courageous and non-violent struggle against the brutal dictatorship in Russia.” Yulia Navalnaya accepted the award on her own behalf and on behalf of her late husband.

  • After the death of the politician, his wife Yulia Navalnaya promised to continue her husband’s work.
