US State Department suspends embassy in Minsk
The US State Department has issued instructions to suspend the work of the US Embassy in Minsk.
In addition, the State Department allowed non-critical employees of the US Embassy in Moscow and their family members to return to their home country.
The decision was made against the background of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.
The State Department stressed that it continues to ensure that diplomats at embassies and US citizens around the world are not put at risk.
Last week, the US State Department recommended that US citizens leave Belarus immediately.
The embassy indicated that it is possible to leave the country through Minsk airport, and the land borders with Lithuania, Latvia and Poland.
