150 aftershocks hit west of Naples… and yesterday’s earthquake was the strongest in the past 20 years

Campi Flegrei, west of the Italian city of Naples, was struck by about 150 aftershocks measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale as of midnight last night, according to the Italian Nova news agency.

According to the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, the aftershocks measuring 4.4 magnitude were the most active among those recorded since the beginning of the current seismic crisis that began in 2005.

According to the institute, yesterday’s earthquake, which struck the same area, was the strongest in the past 20 years.

36 families were evacuated from Pozzuoli, according to the prefecture. Naples, while it was arranged, as part of the activities carried out by the Rescue Coordination Center established by the Prefect of Naples Michele Bari yesterday evening, to send 400 available cots to the heads of the Ministry of the Interior – Fire Department, based in Capua, in the municipalities of Baccoli and Pozzuoli. This is mainly a precautionary measure, to ensure that camping beds are immediately available for local residents in case of need. The provision of beds came at the request of the Civil Protection of the Campania region.
