The Foreign Minister stresses the need for Israel to comply with its obligations as… "Occupying force" Opening all land crossings with Gaza

 

 Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri stressed the need for Israel to comply with its obligations, as the occupying power, by opening all land crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip, and achieving full access to humanitarian and relief aid, safely and without Obstacles to the Gaza Strip.

 

This came during a telephone call conducted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs today, Friday, with Sigrid Kach, the United Nations chief coordinator for humanitarian affairs and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip. The official spokesman and director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the UN official discussed – in depth – the various dimensions of the humanitarian crisis taking place in the Gaza Strip. Shukri also listened to the UN official’s assessment of the current situation regarding the work of the UN mechanism established pursuant to Security Council Resolution 2720. To facilitate, coordinate and monitor the process of bringing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Ambassador Abu Zeid explained that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the UN official spoke about the dangers of military operations in the Palestinian city of Rafah, and the related Israeli control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, where they stressed the necessity of providing safe conditions for the entry of humanitarian aid from the Rafah crossing, and ending military operations in The surroundings of the crossing, and the need to provide a safe environment for humanitarian workers to receive and distribute humanitarian aid to the residents of the Strip was stressed. Shukri stressed the need for Israel to respect and protect humanitarian workers, and not target the headquarters of international relief agencies, in addition to ensuring the access and freedom of movement of relief crews in the Gaza Strip.
