Discover the champions of the final of the "Great dictation of sport"on a text written and read by Academician Erik Orsenna

It is under the prestigious dome of the Institut de France, where headquarters the French Academy, that the finalists found each other. Children, adolescents and adults measured themselves against the writer’s “sporting” dictation Erik Orsenna.

Comfortably seated in the velvet armchairs of the Institut de France, the candidates begin dictation. “Here we go! Long live life! The sun is heating up but not too much”, dictates Erik Orsenna. All were selected during regional tests organized starting in January. These winners compete in 4 categories: primary school students (CM1/CM2), middle school students, high school students and adults.

Some come from very far away, like Roxane Le Gac, originally from Reunion. “To get here, it’s an 11.5 hour plane ride. But it’s a great event, especially at 10 years old” says the young candidate. Just as motivated, a little boy admits to having prepared before coming. “Yesterday, I did a practice dictation and I discovered a word: picturesque” he explains.

Finally, it was the young girl from Reunion who won the final in the primary school students category. For middle school students, Valentin Muet selected in Brest is the lucky winner. The high school and adult winners, Sofiane Bouhadi and Sybil Karakoyun, took the regional tests in Montpellier and Saint-Denis.

The Great Dictation of Sport was initiated as part of the Great National Cause 2024, which is focused on the promotion of physical and sporting activity. So, of course, Erik Orsenna had fun writing a text which refers to the Olympic Games and more precisely to one of its legendary events, the marathon.
