Washington Post: Blinken will head to Saudi Arabia this week to hold meetings with regional partners

The American newspaper The Washington Post reported that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this week to hold meetings with regional partners, to discuss efforts made to ensure the release of the hostages and a ceasefire in Gaza. He will also participate in a World Economic Forum meeting during his visit. He will also discuss with regional partners the recent increase in the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

 

The newspaper indicated – in a report on its website today, Sunday – that Blinken’s visit comes amid renewed efforts. Aiming to reach an agreement with Hamas, which released videos of three hostages last week, including a dual US citizen. The latest video, which was published on Saturday, shows Keith Siegel, 64, who was born in the United States, and Omri Miran, 47 years old. – Who were detained on October 7.

 

The newspaper added that the footage that was published increased the pressure on Israel to negotiate a deal to release them.

 

In a related context, the newspaper quoted the President of the World Economic Forum, Borg Brend, as saying – in a press conference – that the foreign ministers of Britain, Germany and France are expected to participate in the World Economic Forum meeting, along with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. He added: “There is some new momentum now in the talks on the hostages as well as on a possible way out of the impasse we face in Gaza.”
