Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s ‘I Had Some Help’ Opens at No. 1

Post Malone is on a winning streak.

The American rapper and singer earns his second No. 1 single of the year with his and Morgan Wallen‘s duet “I Had Some Help” debuting atop the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart. Malone last appeared at No. 1 in April alongside Taylor Swift for their juggernaut single “Fortnight” (from Swift’s Billboard 200-topping “The Tortured Poets Department”), which remains in the Top 10 of the singles list, sitting at No. 8 this week.

Wallen and Malone had been teasing a joint single for the last month and premiered the country pop anthem, “I Had Some Help,” in a duet performance during Wallen’s headlining set at the Stagecoach festival. It opens with 76.4 million streams, replacing “Fortnight” as the song with the most single-week streams this year, according to research company Luminate.

“I Had Some Help” follows Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” as the second country song to top the Hot 100 this year. It takes the slot from last week’s leader, Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss “Not Like Us,” which slips to No. 2 while Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby” moves to No. 3. The latter held on at No. 2 for two consecutive weeks as the new-comer’s first solo Billbaord chart appearance.

Plenty of other fresh faces appear atop the Hot 100, including Shaboozey and his “Bar Song (Tipsy),” which is at No. 4, and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” at No. 5. Boone also recently joined Lana Del Rey to sing “Beautiful Things” as her special guest during her set for Alabama’s Hangout Music Festival.

Plus, Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” continues to be a fan favorite at No. 5 after it led the list in March as Swims’ first Billboard chart-topping single. Elsewhere, Future, Metro Boomin and Lamar’s “Like That” is at No. 7; Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” is at No. 9 and Hozier’s “Too Sweet” rounds out the Top 10.

As for the albums chart, Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” hits the one month mark at No. 1 with 260,000 units. Gunna’s latest effort, “One of Wun,” enters at No. 2 with 91,000 equivalent album units earned. 

Meanwhile, Wallen’s 2023 record, “One Thing at a Time,” returns to the top five at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 75,000 album units, while Wallen’s 2021 album, “Dangerous: The Double Album,” lifts to No. 5. This is likely due to the success of Wallen and Post Malone’s duet, despite the fact that the single is expected to be on Post Malone’s future album.

Future and Metro Boomin’s “We Don’t Trust You” remains at No. 4; Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” is at No. 6; SZA’s “SOS” lifts to No. 7; Zach Bryan’s self-titled LP moves up to No. 8; Boone’s “Fireworks & Rollerblades” moves up to No. 9; and Beyoncé’s chart-topping “Cowboy Carter” is at No. 10.
